M2G at The Long Night of Science 2025

A large-scale power outage can have serious consequences—especially for critical infrastructure such as hospitals or data centers. An innovative pilot project is exploring whether electric vehicles can serve as mobile emergency power sources in such scenarios.

The project is a collaboration between the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, the Mobility2Grid research campus, BVG, and Siemens Energy. Together, they are conducting extensive tests on the institute’s grounds to evaluate how electric buses and trucks perform in crisis situations. The insights gained will contribute to the development of a robust concept for securing power supply to critical infrastructure.

Visitors are warmly invited to learn more about the project on site, ask questions, and experience the technology up close.
